I1000M Music Intercom System Tech Trouble Shooting Tips

Note.  Anytime the intercom master has to be removed from the wall it should be done by a qualified electrician or installer.  If these trouble shooting tips do not correct the problem or your problem is not listed please call us at 877-435-0670 Monday – Friday 8-5pm CST.

  1. The intercom master cannot find any or all room, patio or door stations when attempting to register.
    1. These reasons are usually caused by bad connections at the RJ45 or Bad room, patio or door units.
    2. Remove the intercom master from the wall
    3. Unplug all RJ45 connections
    4. Plug one room intercom station into the intercom master and try to register one unit.  If one intercom room station can be found start plugging in one at a time until the bad unit or bad connection is found.  Go from all the room units to the patio and door units until all units are identified.
    5. Always run a RJ45 tester on the connections to the connections are good.
  2. I hear buzzing, humming or popping coming from the intercom master
    1. Remove the intercom master from the wall
    2. Unplug all RJ45 connections
    3. Unplug the power from the intercom master and antenna connections.
    4. Plug the intercom master into another standard wall outlet away from original location.  If the noise continues replace master.
    5. If the noise does not continue, the buzzing, humming or popping coming from the intercom master usually is caused from interference such as florescent lighting, dimmer controls, refrigerators or other electronic devices.  These noises are usually caused because the intercom master was installed on a shared 110V power source or to close to florescent lighting, dimmer controls or other electronic devices..  The I1000M needs to be installed on a dedicated 110V power source and away from lighting switches, dimmers etc...
  3. I hear buzzing, humming or popping noise from the room station.
    1. Identify if the noise is coming through all room intercom stations.
    2. If the noise is being heard through all room intercom stations refer to troubleshooting tip (2)
    3. If the noise is only heard at one room or patio intercom station refer to (d)
    4. Remove the intercom room station from the wall
    5. Unplug the room intercom station from the RJ45
    6. Take this room intercom station over to another location in the house that is not having these buzzing, humming or popping noises.
    7. Switch the room intercom stations.  If the room intercom station from the original location does not have the buzzing, humming or popping noises at the new location then the noises are caused from interference at the original location.  This could be because of dimmer controls or other electronics that may be installed in this area.  All room intercom stations should be installed at least 18 inches away from other electronics or power lines.  All cables should be run into a separate cavity from other electronics or power lines.
    8. If the room intercom station still buzzing, humming or popping then replace the room station.
  4. I have low volume or no intercom sound at the master, room, patio or door
    1. Always make sure the intercom volumes are set correctly.  Refer to operation manual for directions.
    2. Remove the intercom master from the wall
    3. Unplug all RJ45 connections
    4. Test the intercom master to identify the intercom master is working properly, if not replace intercom master
    5. Start plugging in RJ45 one by one while testing the intercom functions each time.
    6. This will identify the problem.  This could be bad RJ45 connection or room, patio intercom station.  Use a RJ45 tester to test the RJ45 connections or you can switch the room intercom station with a room intercom station that is working to test the connection.
    7. If neither of these solutions work switch RJ45 inputs on the back of intercom master.
  5. I have low volume or no sound on music
    1. Look at the intercom master display to make sure it does not read audio off.  If so, press the audio off button turn on the radio.  If this does not correct the problem refer to (b).
    2. Always make sure the volumes are set correctly and your source is correctly selected.  Refer to operation manual for directions.
    3. Remove the intercom master from the wall
    4. Unplug all RJ45 connections
    5. If the volume or sound comes back to normal refer to (f) if not replace intercom master

    10. Remove the door station from its location.  Plug the door station into a room intercom station that is working properly.
    11. If the door intercom or chime sound improves than check the connections at the door station.  Use a RJ45 tester to verify that the connection is good.
  1. No display at room intercom station
    1. Remove the room intercom station from the wall
    2. Unplug the room intercom station from the RJ45
    3. Take this room intercom station over to another location and switch it out with a good room intercom station.  If the display re-appears then the problem is in the connection at the original location.  If the display does not improve then replace the room unit.
